How, then, can the Hindu, whose whole fabric of thought
centres in God, believe in Buddhism which is agnostic, or in Jainism which is atheistic?
It, therefore, never asks the question what our religion is, whether we are Deists or Atheists, whether Christians, Jews, or Buddhists. We are human beings; that is sufficient.
A man may believe in all the churches in the world, he may carry in his head all the sacred books ever written, he may baptise himself in all the rivers of the earth, still, if he has no perception of God, I would class him with the rankest atheist.
An atheist can be charitable but not religious. But the religious man must be charitable.
The atheists are sincere, but the man who says that he believes in religion and never attempts to realise
it is not sincere.
