Hi,

Whatever you say, these original malayalam digits and alphabets are
encoded by UNICODE Consortiaum and then it will be available to all of
you, like english digits (in computer and related fileds) Whether you
use it or not, up to you. The facility is agreed and available in
unicode malayalam fonts.

Regards,

How could one feel like throwing up? We know hieroglyphics (I am not
sure of the spelling) was used by the Egyptians, same way these funny
looking characters were used by Malayalis (only those who knew to read
& write); it is part of our history and should be preserved as
something that was in vogue long ago. No need to throw up; that is a
very violent reaction. Om Shanti, Shanti!

Dear Nam,

Teaching malayalam to our children is not adding any
value to their lifes. They should know only to
communicate in Malayalam that is much more than
enough.

If we give importance to Malayam, the coming
generation will face only problems to get job. This
trend is already there because 75% of malayalees who
studied in Malayalam medium in the last 20 years are
working as drivers/tea boys and others in less
salaried categories.

Now a days - professional college admission on merit
basis is secured by the students from the english
medium schools only.

Malayalam language, Government school (malayam medium
students) are reaching no where now a days.

the person who wrote this to you would have admitted
his kids in English medium even in a very high
standard school and he would tell us that he is
outside India, hence he is doing so.

This is all good only for talking:- Our children
should study only study in english medium and attain
the best result in life.

Best regars
Hari

You are correct, whenever we open Malayalam channel we have to suffer
such "Komalies". I think they are playing a big role to Mock
Malayalam.

Be proud with our mother tong and teach our kids and compel them to
use our language in our home.

All,

One should be proud of saying that I am a Malayalee. However, one who is
qualified to say this should always be upholding the culture, identity,
root and history. What is wrong in making awareness of our past and
learning something out of it. As far as Malayalam digits are concerned,
it is not a decade old history. It was in existence 40 years back . It
was widely used in school text books and in print media.

Thanks
